Lloronas
It is a play based
on the Mexican folklore story of "La Llorona-The Crying Woman."
An illegal Mexican family living in the United States, finds itself
in turmoil when the older daughter, who suffers from depression
due to the lost of her only daughter, decides to go to Mexico
in search of her daughter after she find out she still alive.
However, her depression and state of mind continues to deteriorate
while having nightmares where "La Llorona" visits her
on a regular basis.
At the same time,
the younger son, trying to win an essay competition and obtain
a scholarship for higher education, researches the origins of
the Llorona myth, thus taking us to the XVII Century where a love
story between a Mexican Indian and a young Spaniard develops,
and also transporting us to Pre-Colonial times where we discovered
the origins of the myth and its connection to the Aztec Goddess,
Cuatlicue. This play is trilingual: English, Spanish, and Nahuatl.

Esta es una obra
basada en el mito de 'La Llorona.' Una familia ilegal que vive
en los Estados Unidos, se encuentra en un aprieto cuando la hija
mayor, la cual sufre de depresión por haber perdido a su
única hija, trata de salir del país e ir a México
a buscarla cuando descubre que su pequeña esta viva. Mientras
tanto, su depresión y estado emocional se deteriora cada
vez mas mientras llega a tener pesadillas donde "La Llorona"
la visita regularmente.
Al mismo tiempo,
el hijo menor tratando de obtener una beca para sus estudios superiores,
investiga los orígenes del mito de "La Llorona,"
llevándonos de esta manera, al siglo XVII donde se desarrolla
la historia amorosa entre una india mexicana y un joven español
y la época de Pre-colonización donde descubrimos
el origen del mito y su conexión con la diosa azteca Cuatlicue.
Esta obra es trilingüe: Español, Inglés, y
Nahuatl.
