Esno White

A Mexican father decides to read a children’s story to his daughter. The daughter, however, asks too many questions as the story is being told. For example, why does Snow White has “skin as white as snow” and not brown like me? The father doesn’t know how to answer that but just so he can finished the story, he agrees with his daughter’s request to have a Snow White “cafecita como yo.”

Unbeknown to both of them, the story on stage starts to take on a different shape and soon, a bilingual story, mixed with Shakespearian dwarfs, two evil queens, unknown creatures, and a big giant head start to appear on stage.

The play questions the idealism of the “happily ever after,” the perfect yet falsely promise of the Disney’ mentality, and turns the cards on the female characters to become the heroines of the story rather than having a “prince save the day.”

Full of humor, bilingualism, and hundreds of characters, this play is a sure hit wherever it has been presented.
