00033: Postcards

18 Days of the 30-Day Minimalism Game

18 Days, eighteen items

So far, I have dug out, not one, not two, not three, but four different bags/storage boxes with postcards. When I was younger and unable to travel, I decided that collecting postcards would be a way to “see the world.” And once I told my friends and/relatives about my habit to collect postcard, I started to receive them all the time. Not only that, but whenever I went somewhere and I found postcards that were of interest to me, I would grab some, especially if they were free. And if I have to buy them, I did.

I spend about thirty minutes cutting into small pieces a box of postcards. I thought I had taken a picture of said box but I didn’t. That was supposed to be my Day 20 items because I ended up cutting into pieces 300 postcards. Low and behold, I have found more postcards and I have taken some and divided them into other days simply because I have way too many. I am assuming I’m not cheating. Believe me when I tell you I don’t feel I’m cheating because on early days I was counting several items that were the same (such as picture frames) as one item. I feel it is now fair to use a single postcard as a single item… and at times I do count three postcards as a single item.

These postcards are a mixed of theatre postcards from shows I have done and also from shows I’ve seen, as well as places I have visit. And as I look at the image above, I realize how much I really like them, so taking a picture of them before I cut them into pieces was a good idea. I should had done that with the other 300 I cut before. Oh, well, you lose some, you win some… and you learn from all #carlosmanuelspeaksthetruth.
